This year the traditional Vesak Festival (Vesakha Puja) will be observed at Aruna Ratanagiri on Sunday 19th May. All welcome. There will be two opportunities to participate. In the morning there will be the usual shared meal; it is recommended you try to be here by 10.00am with formal proceedings expected to begin around 10.30am. After determining the 5 Precepts the Paritta are to be chanted while offerings of rice are being placed in the bowls. A short Dhamma Talk is to follow before the actual offering of the meal.
After that, at 1.30pm, Anagarika Jason will be taking on samanera precepts (Pabbajja); all are welcome to attend in the Dhamma Hall.
Then in the evening we plan to gather at the lakeside at 6.30pm to make offerings at the lakeside Buddha Shrine and join in circumambulation. Those who wish to stay on are welcome to proceed back up to the Dhamma Hall for meditation, chanting and a Dhamma talk. The program at the Dhamma Hall will start around 8pm. Note that if the weather is thoroughly unsuitable, last minute changes to the program could be made.
