Hilltop Newsletter: Wednesday 19th April, 2023

Today, Wednesday 19th, is the New Moon day for the month of April 2023.
The next Uposatha Day will be the Full Moon which falls on Thursday, 4th May, 2023.

Last week on Friday 14th April, several of the sangha traveled to Edinburgh to participate in the sad occasion of the funeral of our dear friend and loyal supporter Daw Myint Su. Later next month, Sunday 28th May, there will be a gathering at the monastery when her ashes will be interred.

Ajahn Candasiri also participated in the funeral and also visited us her last week, on Tuesday 12th April.

Ajahn Kevali has joined us (see photo), from Thailand where he is abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat. We are delighted that he will be here for most of the rest of this year. For the month of May and part of June he will be on the Continent visiting family and friends.

Our community recently grew by two when Beat (Switzerland) and Craig (UK) formally took the eight anagarika precepts. That was an occasion for a dhamma talk titled: Transform, Translate and Protect

Sunday 16th April was an occasion for the South Asian and Southeast Asian Buddhist communities to celebrate their New Year (Songkhran). Around one hundred and fifty visitors participated in making offerings, listening to dhamma, eating, and the ritual bathing of the Buddha rupa.

Ajahn Punnyo is presently at Amaravati in preparation for an Elders' Council Meeting this Thursday 20th and Friday 21st.  And Ajahn Amaro from Amaravati is due to arrive here at Harnham on Saturday 22nd to lead a lay retreat for the week of 23rd to 30th April. We are very grateful that he is willing to take time to support this retreat.

Please note, Saturday 13th of May is our next Lake Work Day. All welcome.

With good wishes,

Ajahn Munindo
